The impact of years of drought and this winter’s storms are obvious in each of the 20 San Mateo County Parks. Scores of downed trees, landslides and flooding have prompted numerous trail and full park closures. As we begin to dry out and make repairs, we will work to reopen trails and camping and picnic sites that are currently closed. Yet, some of the damage is more significant and will take weeks or even months to remedy and we ask for your patience.
We are proud of our park rangers and operations staff who braved heavy rain and wind to clear pathways and roads. This is truly hazardous work with weakened tress falling while downed trees are being cleared. We encourage you check our advisories or follow us on Twitter @smcparks to see current trail and park status before you head out to enjoy the beautiful outdoors of San Mateo County.
