San Mateo County Parks Department is developing a master plan for Quarry Park that will help guide park improvements over a period of time of at least 20 years. Mirada Surf East and West will be included in the plan. Topics to be considered during the planning process, include:

  • Review of historic documents
  • Site assessments
  • Sediment management strategies
  • Analysis of existing features
  • Biological assessment and fire management
  • Recreational uses

The Department encourages public input during the process and will host community meetings and workshops as well as opportunities to review alternative plans and participate in surveys.

In the process of developing the Quarry Park Master Plan a desire was identified to have a community pump track installed at Quarry Park. The completed track, designed in collaboration with the local biking community, opened in July 2022. Learn more.

Next Steps for Quarry Park Master Plan

Community Meeting #4, held on October 3, 2017 at El Granada School, was well attended and garnered ideas as well as concerns that had not been heard at earlier meetings. This prompted the Parks Department to consider holding a follow up community meeting to ensure a diversity of thoughts and interests are reflected in the Quarry Park Master Plan. As soon as a decision is made about an additional community meeting, information will be posted on this site and an email will be sent to those who have asked to be on the project’s notification list.
