PLEASE NOTE: All hikes through April 12 have been cancelled due to COVID-19.
The free walks that are led by docents at Edgewood Park will be canceled through March. It is possible that hikes will resume in April. The Education Center will also be closed. The park will remain open to visitors during this period.
Edgewood’s serpentine grasslands are renowned throughout California for their lush wildflower carpets and rich biodiversity. It is possible that the hikes will resume in April and continue through early June 7.
For future guided hikes: Bring water, a hat and sturdy shoes, sunscreen, and a snack, if you wish. Plan to arrive by 9:45 a.m. for parking; hikes leave promptly at 10 a.m. On Saturdays in April, hikes also from the Clarkia trailhead. The hike takes about three hours and covers about 3 miles, at a moderate pace, with frequent stops. Hikes don't stop for lunch, but picnic tables are usually available after the walks in the Old Stage Day Camp area. Restrooms and water are available only a the Education Center. All ages are welcome, but narrow trails can't accomodate strollers.
