At its September 17 meeting, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors accepted the Tunitas Creek Beach Community Advisory Committee’s (CAC) Vision Document. The work of the CAC spanned from fall 2018 to spring 2019 with support from San Mateo County and Peninsula Space Open Trust (POST).

San Mateo County and POST convened the CAC to partner with stakeholders already connected to Tunitas Creek Beach, including coastwide community leaders, non-profits, volunteers and environmental educators, and to lay the foundation for the beach’s upcoming improvement project.

The CAC’s Vision reflects what committee members identified as the core values and preliminary guiding principles that will support the efforts of San Mateo County and POST to develop Tunitas Creek Beach into a county park. The CAC sees its Vision as a living document that will continue to evolve and reflect the priorities and interests of more members of the community.

Consultants have been selected to conduct a site analysis, to work with regulatory and resource agencies, and to develop and implement an engagement plan to ensure community input is reflected in the project. A project timeline will be announced soon and posted to the Tunitas Creek Beach Planning Page.
