Campfires Restricted at Memorial Park Campsites

Updated Thursday, September 9, 2021

While CAL FIRE has lifted the ban on open fires in rural parks, San Mateo County Parks will continue restrictions on open campfires and wood burning in historic Memorial County Park. Memorial is part of the Pescadero Creek Park complex where the CZU Lightning Fire burned more than 2,800 acres last year. As a reminder, charcoal is the only material allowed to be used in barbeque pits.

Dry vegetation, low humidity levels and high temperatures coupled with limited fire emergency resources in the area led to the department to make its decision out of an abundance of caution.
