On January 11, close to 150 people celebrated the opening of the new Crystal Springs Dam Bridge positioned on top of the Crystal Springs Dam. The curved and widened .3-mile-long trail that crosses the bridge provides a safe and scenic view of the reservoir for pedestrians and bicyclists.
During the course of the last eight years, this section of the 18-mile-long Crystal Springs Regional Trail had been inaccessible while the dam was renovated and seismically improved.
The opening of the Bridge also provides access to a new segment of trail that is just under one-mile-long and offers resting benches, a restroom and additional views of the Peninsula Watershed. Start your venture across the bridge at the south trailhead of the Sawyer Camp Trail. After crossing the bridge continue along the pedestrian path marked by a split rail fence that leads you the new trail segment.
