Detour on Bay Trail at Coyote Point
Thursday, September 17, 2020
In September 2020 the City of San Mateo started construction on the North Shoreview Flood Improvement Project, which will impact access to the Bay Trail that traverses Coyote Point Recreation Area. The project, which is projected to continue into the first quarter of 2023, includes:
- Improvements to the Coyote Point and Poplar Avenue Pump Stations, which requires a temporary detour of the Bay Trail redirecting all Bay Trail use through the North Shoreview neighborhood.
- Raising a 1,300-foot levee segment located between the San Mateo and Burlingame border off Airport Boulevard and adjacent to the Peninsula Humane Society. This will require a temporary reroute of Bay Trail access at the northern end of Coyote Point.
Also, due to construction on the Eastern Promenade Rejuvenation Project, park visitors should expect heavy trucks and other vehicles in the park, Monday through Friday, until February 2022.
