On Saturday, November 7, 2020, the playground at Moss Beach Park reopened, marking the finish of a two-year project to improve and expand the beloved but aging Moss Beach playground.
Fifteen years after its initial construction by a community-led non-profit and local residents Moss Beach playground had begun to show wear. Play structures had begun to sink, creating gaps and other safety hazards. With input from the community San Mateo County Parks embarked on an improvement project that would maintain the original charm of the playground an incorporate needed enhancements.
We are excited to unveil the new playground, which expands on the original whimsical shipwreck theme and features sea creatures and brand-new play structures, including a crow's nest tower complete with a climbable rigging and a slide. The playground also features improved accessibility and clearer sightlines for supervising guardians. Let the fun begin!
