  • The San Mateo Parks Department is collaborating with county, state, and federal agencies, and tribal representatives, to develop a trail system that will recognize 10,000 years of the Ohlone peoples in San Mateo County and to follow the footsteps of the Portolá expedition into Alta California and the discovery of the San Francisco Bay by the Spanish.

    Survey

Through October 17, 2018 we conducted an online survey to gauge interest and gather information that will help guide the project. Thank you to everyone who responded.

    Information Meetings

Three public information meetings were held to allow the public to learn about the Ohlone-Portola Heritage Trail project and learn how a Spanish explorer, through the graciousness and knowledge of the Ohlone people, shaped the course of San Mateo County History in 1769.
