Parks, Trails & Drop-in Picnic Sites Re-open After CZU Fire
Updated Wednesday, October 21, 2020
After a complete closure due to the CZU Lightning Complex fire, San Mateo County Parks have returned to Phase II of the COVID-19 park management plan, which includes reopening of more parks, trails, drop-in picnic sites, parking lots and restrooms. Most of the County's 23 parks are now open. Below, see the list of open San Mateo County Parks, open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The parks of the Pescadero Creek Complex remain closed, as they are located in the mandatory evacuation zone for the CZU fire.
Drop-in picnic sites are open for use by single households only. For your wellbeing and to guard against the spread of COVID-19, we ask that you:
- Bring a reusable table covering for picnic tables
- Bring and use hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes
- Don’t use any areas that are closed or barricaded to support social distancing
- Clean-up when you’re done—dispose of waste in receptacles or take garbage with you and dispose of at home.
- Clean the barbecue area if used
In keeping with current San Mateo County Health Orders and state guidelines, group gatherings are not allowed at or around drop-in picnic areas. Multiple drop-in picnic sites cannot be occupied by multiple households to form a group picnic gathering. Playgrounds, reservation picnic areas, and visitor centers remain closed. Because of the prohibition on group activities, all department and park partner events remain canceled through September or until Health Orders are revised that would allow these activities. No barbeques will be allowed on Spare The Air Days.
