Pescadero Creek Park Update

Butano Ridge Fire - August 18, 2020

Updated Thursday, May 27, 2021

Pescadero Creek Park remains closed as Park rangers and natural resource management staff work with CALFIRE to repair and plan restoration of the parks impacted by the CZU Lightning Complex fire this August through September. Sam McDonald Park and Memorial Park are open.

A wildfire of this magnitude has not occurred in San Mateo County parks in the 96-year history of the department. According to the National Interagency Fire Center, close to 2,800 acres have burned in Pescadero Creek Park.

We are grateful for the efforts of Cal Fire, San Mateo County Park staff, San Mateo County Sheriff deputies, Midpen rangers, State Park staff, and the numerous other agencies and volunteer fire fighters who have been a part of the fire-fighting efforts.

At this time, we are not able to predict when Pescadero Creek Park will reopen as park staff assigned to this area continue to support fire related activities.
