Wildfire Prevention Work in Junipero Serra Park
Thursday, December 19, 2019
To reduce the threat of wildfire to neighboring communities, the San Mateo County Parks Department is collaborating with CAL FIRE to treat approximately five acres of vegetation along the boundary of Junipero Serra Park and houses along Terrace Drive in Milbrae. Doing so will expand an existing shaded fuel break and improve defensible space for neighbors.
This project involves the removal of brush and small-diameter trees beginning December 26, 2019 and continuing until the work is complete in approximately two weeks. Work will occur Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Planning for this project included assessment of the area for special status species and identification of erosion prevention measures.
