Wildfire Resiliency Work at San Bruno Mountain
Tuesday, February 2, 2021
In early February 2021, we will be collaborating with CAL FIRE, to treat two acres of vegetation at San Bruno Mountain Park in order to improve wildfire resiliency.
Work will occur between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. with the potential for work on select Saturdays if necessary. The park will remain open during the project and no trails will be closed. The project is expected to be completed within one week of project initiation. The start date will depend on weather conditions.
The project involves removal of brush and small diameter trees within a stand of Eucalyptus in near proximity to the park boundary with residences nearby. Crews will use chainsaws and hand tools to cut limbs and fell trees. Debris will be processed on site using a track-chipper. Expect noise and dust. You can help us expedite this important work by avoiding the project area.
The result will be a "shaded-fuel break," which both encourages biodiversity and reduces the destructive potential of wildfires. Learn more the benefits of shaded fuel breaks »
