Wunderlich Park Forest Health Work Update

Updated Monday, September 20, 2021

Forest Health work progresses at Wunderlich Park as crews work to selectively thin overdense stands of trees and shrubs along the southern border of the park. Staff fire prevention and safety precautions include taking weather readings a minimum of three times daily, maintaining on-site fire suppression apparatus, and monitoring equipment and the treatment area for smoke. Staff also flags and monitors to protect sensitive resources. Even while factors influence progress, including working with a smaller crew and less equipment due to COVID limitations; resources being diverted to fight fires throughout the state, and pauses due to erratic weather, crews have succeeded in treating 52.5 acres of vegetation to date, with an another 5.3 acres now in progress.

Please Note: Skyline Trail and Alambique Trail are now open.
