At Sam McDonald Park
Saturday, February 9, 2019 - 9-11am

Sam McDonald Park was named after Sam (Emanuel) McDonald, descendant of former slaves. From 1917 until his death in 1957, he acquired more than 400 acres which he bequeathed for public use. Our hike will take us to his former home, a two room cabin, which still stands today.

Approximately 3 mile hike on a trail with moderate inclines and declines. We will discuss Sam McDonald, the legacy of African American land conservation, and his history at Stanford University.
